A Francophone-flavoured Adventure for the Whole Family!
Bonjour! Get ready for a year of fun, friendship, and Francophone culture with the Nottingham Anglo-French Society. From September to July, we’re hosting a fantastic programme of events with something special for every member of the family.
Come and join us to:
Discover amazing stories about French history and culture.
Get creative with hands-on crafts, games, and songs.
Taste delicious French treats at our friendly get-togethers.
Learn and practise fun French phrases together in a relaxed setting.
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a complete beginner or a fluent speaker. So bring the kids, grandparents, and friends to share a wonderful cultural experience. Explore our upcoming events and get ready to say “Ooh la la!”

“Meet in front of the Council House from 1.15pm to start a guided visit of Nottingham, taking in the Lace Market and finishing at the Brewhouse Yard Museum. The visit, led by Phil Drabble, born and bred in Nottinghamshire, will last approximately one hour and will be in French. The English text will be available for participants who would like it. After the visit, we will go over the bilingual quiz (French and English) in a local café “.
” Rendez-vous devant la mairie de Nottingham à partir de 13 heures 15 pour commencer une visite guidée de Nottingham qui passera par le Lace Market et se terminera au Brewhouse Yard Museum. La visite menée par Phil Drabble, un natif du Nottinghamshire, sera en francais. Un texte en anglais sera disponible pour ceux qui le veulent. La visite se terminera dans un café où nous vérifierons les réponses aux questions du quiz bilingue”.
An afternoon of board games, with the option of buying a special French goûter.

Bring your own favourite games to share or explore the games provided by NAFS! Younger children are most welcome, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Apportez vos jeux préférés pour les partager ou découvrez des jeux proposés par NAFS! Les jeunes enfants sont les bienvenus, mais doivent être accompagnés par un adulte.

Our target group for the workshop is those NAFS members who may perhaps lack confidence in speaking the language and who may also wish to develop their listening skills.
The workshop will be interactive and some preparation by participants will be required in advance. The workshop is not aimed at native speakers, people who may have a degree in French or who have lived for a number of years in a French speaking country! There will be 2 groups, with a maximum of 10 participants per group.
The cost of taking part in the workshop will be £8 to cover the cost of room hire and photocopying.
Le groupe cible de cet atelier sera composé de personnes manquant de confiance à l’oral et donc l’atelier sera conçu pour elles. La séance n’est pas destinée aux francophones natifs ni aux personnes ayant un niveau avancé de français, s’adressant plutôt aux personnes ayant un niveau intermédiaire.
L’accent sera mis sur l’expression et la compréhension orales et l’atelier sera interactif. Une préparation préalable sera requise. Sur 2 groupes, le nombre maximum de participants par groupe sera de 10.
Une participation de £8 est demandée, pour couvrir les frais de location d’une salle et les frais de photocopie.

If a surplus is made from the sale, a donation will be made to War Child UK on behalf of NAFS

Venue, details to come Come and find out about a very important piece of British history that transformed the life of Nottingham people under the reign of Queen Victoria! Jon, our French-speaking guide for the afternoon will take us round some of the key places that were created following the Inclosure Act of 1845 to give Nottingham people access to green spaces. As well as enjoying a lovely walk, you will learn a wealth of information about Nottingham which is still relevant today! The walk will start at….and end at Forest Recreation Ground where we will enjoy a well-deserved drink at the Homemade Café!
Venez découvrir un aspect très important de l’histoire britannique qui transforma la vie des habitants de Nottingham sous le règne de la Reine Victoria! Jon, notre guide francophone pour l’après-midi nous montrera des endroits-clés qui furent créés suite à la loi “Inclosure Act” pour permettre aux habitants de Nottingham de profiter d’espaces verts. Non seulement vous ferez une très belle balade, mais vous apprendrez aussi des tas de choses sur Nottingham qui conservent toute leur importance de nos jours! La balade commencera à….et se terminera à Forest Recreation Ground où nous prendrons une boisson bien méritée au Homemade Café!

Lenton, which became part of Nottingham in 1877, has a rich history and was a buzzing industrial hub in the days before the demise of the Raleigh works and its reincarnation as the University’s Jubilee Campus. Nowadays, Lenton’s residents share this multi-faceted part of Nottingham with Queen’s Medical Centre and an ever-increasing number of students. Come and see today’s Lenton while discovering many traces of its recent past! Jonathan, our French-speaking guide for the afternoon, will take us on his personal tour through many of the places he has got to know in over 40 years. After the walk, we will enjoy a drink at a local café.
Lenton, qui a été rattaché à Nottingham en 1877, a une très riche histoire et était un foyer industriel très vivant à l’époque avant la disparition de l’usine Raleigh et sa réincarnation dans le Jubilee Campus de l’Université. De nos jours, les habitants de Lenton partagent ce quartier de Nottingham aux multiples visages avec l’hôpital (Queen’s Medical Centre) et avec un nombre d’étudiants en constante augmentation. Venez visiter le Lenton d’aujourd’hui tout en découvrant de nombreuses traces de son passé récent!
Jonathan, notre guide francophone pour l’après-midi, nous fera faire un tour très personnel d’un grand nombre d’endroits qu’il a appris à connaître en plus de 40 ans. Après la balade, nous irons prendre une bonne Boisson dans un café du coin.
